Whilst HPF as a brand name is relatively new on the scene, the owners Rob Vickery and Ian Weightman bring with them a performance vehicle pedigree and experience with many industry firsts to their names, including 4 Summer Nats Horsepower Hero wins. It is that desire to be the best that led Amberley Autos to create the new HPF brand.

The original business, Amberley Autos was a long established automotive service business (30 years) located in Dandenong, a major suburban centre in Melbourne’s south east. Performance tuning was not something new to Amberley Autos with Amberley’s Ian Weightman having installed the second Dyno Dynamics dyno in Victoria some 28 years ago. Today HPF boasts 2 dyno cells one with an AWD twin roller and a second big HP (1,000 HP plus) twin retarder, two wheel dyno.

With a staff of 18 and a substantial premises of over 1100sqm, 10 car hoists and a business split between general servicing/repairs and performance tuning/modification, HPF is a hive of activity due to the constant demand for their high quality service.

HPF is also not a one make wonder. Specialized Service and Performance tuning/modification is undertaken on Holden, Ford, Subaru and a wide range of Japanese performance vehicles and in particular forced induction all wheel drives (hence the primary dyno being an AWD unit). The range of performance services includes both factory ECU tuning, after market ECU supply, installation and tuning, forced induction via turbo and super charging, exhausts, brakes, engine building, custom design and fabrication and suspension setup - all for street, strip and track.

The philosophy at HPF is to give the customer what they want. We can provide you with a range of factory ECU remapping options (factory ECU editing), off the shelf upgrade packages can be provided for certain model vehicles, we even have our own twin turbo kit for the LSX based engine. Do we know what we are doing? Some of our achievements include four Horsepower Hero titles, we where also the first company to make 500rwhp, 1000rwhp, 1500rwhp at the HP Hero’s competition in Canberra. This year we won with a record breaking 1895rwhp. Some of our other achievements include the HPF Twin turbo LS1 Monaro - 9.83 @ 141 mph with factory bottom end, Australia’s fastest “stock” XR6 turbo – 9.90 @ 141 mph - factory turbo and tuned factory ECU. The first company to build a twin turbo kit for the LS1 engine in Australia, The first company to fit a turbo kit to the VE Commodore (6 weeks after it was released) and then proceeding to run be the first to hit the drag strip with a record breaking 10.9 @ 130mph nearly 2 years only one other VE has even come close.
