Summernats 22
The annual Summernats Car Festival in Canberra has always been a major event on the HPF calendar and this years event was certainly no different. HPF took up three cars, MRPSI to take on the most powerful street cars in the country in the Horsepower Heroes competition, HPFXR8 to allow us to have a crack at the burnout competition for the first time and do plenty of laps, and Daniels 300C for display on Yella Terras stand.
Daniels Chrysler was very well received by not only the Hemi fans but the fans of late model cars in general. The car features a 426ci stroker Hemi with a Yella Terra 3.4L Whipple supercharger kit, turbo 400 auto and a large shot of nitrous. This was the first time out of the workshop since these mods and was only on a very rough tune so was mostly on static display. We still got it out as part of the Supercruise and had a ball in the process.
The XR8 really out did itself across the entire weekend, truly a testiment to the Yella Terra blower kits. Across 3 days it did a go-to-whoa run, a massive burnout to qualify for the final, 20+ laps cruising around the grounds in the heat and a mammoth effort in the burnout finals. Apart from cosmetic tyre blowing damage and a melted shifter cable to ute did everything asked of it. Check out the burnout video for proof: Latest Vids
Last but far from least is the horsepower monster MRPSI. MRPSI debuted at last years Summernats where it placed second overall, unfortunately since then the owner of the vehicle and friend of HPF, Lyle passed away. In Lyles honour HPF was prowd to bring home the trophy for most powerful forced inducted small block V8 and the big prize, overall Horsepower Hero.
