CHEV SILVERADO 1500 | STAGE 3 | 500KW
The Silverado 1500 6.2L Stage-3 upgrade starts with our trained technician setting your vehicle up on the dyno to perform a baseline dyno run and then fitting a Whipple 5th generation 3.0L intercooled supercharger kit the same as Stage-4. Stage-5 goes further adding 4-1 headers (extractors) and high flow metallic catalytic converters and a dual 3” stainless steel catback exhaust. We then custom tune your vehicle's ECU on the dyno utilizing the latest ECU tuning software to maximize power and torque and to optimize fuel efficiency. We complete the upgrade process by testing your vehicle on the road to make final adjustments, optimizing your vehicle's performance and driveability. This is all completed in four to five days and at the end of this upgrade you will be provided with a dyno graph detailing the power & torque increase of your vehicle.
Supercharger (Whipple) - Yella Terra in Moorabbin Victoria is the Australian distributor of Whipple superchargers out of Fresno, California. HPF have had long term cooperation with Yella Terra and will continue to support them into the future. The all new, Whipple Gen-5 supercharger systems feature the latest patent pending dual intercooler, dual pass technology for industry leading cooling capacity, massive 112mm high flowing inlet, Gen-5 3/4 rotors and upgraded belt system to give you the most advanced upgrade available today. More power per pound of boost with neck whipping torque and ear to ear grinning top end horsepower, the Whipple Supercharger system is absolutely a beast! The all-new Whipple Gen-5 supercharger system features the same technology that Dodge uses for its factory built Drag Pak program and is helping teams set new records nearly every race weekend.
This all-new supercharger features industry leading efficiency from idle to redline. All new bearings, gears, rotors and housing allow the new supercharger to spin faster, longer and safer while producing more power than any other positive displacement supercharger ever built. The new Gen-5 features an all-new 3/4 rotor combination vs previous 3/5, 285 deg helix vs previous 270 deg, new bell mouth inlet, optimized discharge port and increased diameter vs length for higher efficiency. The 3.0L in the description is the amount of air displaced in one revolution of the supercharger, i.e. for every one revolution of the supercharger, 3000cc’s of air is displaced.
Catback Exhaust system – A ‘Catback’ system is basically all the parts of the exhaust after the catalytic converters. It’s the section of exhaust where all the mufflers are placed and by using larger diameter pipe and high flowing mufflers more performance and better sound is achieved. HPF works closely with our 2 major exhaust suppliers Pacemaker and Manta. The advantage we find of having two suppliers is we remain flexible in terms of price, availability and product selection. Pacemaker offers a 5-year warranty and are built in Richmond, South Australia while Manta offers a 10-year warranty and has manufacturing in both Belmont, Western Australia and Melton, Victoria.
Headers & High flow cats – Also known as extractors, we chose a 4-1 design as over the years 4-1 headers have proven their advantage over the tri-y design. 4-1 Headers are offered in a few different sizes for different engine applications or modification levels. The catalytic converters chosen are higher flow and feature either 100 cpi or 200 cpi (cell per inch). The catalyst matrix is coated metal so they are built to last. The catback exhaust bolts to the catalytic converters.
Dyno Tuning – By optimizing the engine tune parameters in the vehicles PCM to suit 98 octane fuel, we are able to increase both power and torque and maximise fuel economy. Late model naturally aspirated cars are generally tuned very well from the manufacturer so depending on the vehicle platform mechanical parts to improve the engines intake & exhaust flow may need to be added to really get good gains. Engines fitted with a turbocharger from factory are much easier to enhance as increasing boost pressure by tuning works extremely well.
